First pack meeting of the year tonight
January 7, 2020

Pack, I hope everyone had Merry Christmas and has had a great start to the New Year.  This is a reminder for the pack meeting TONIGHT.  Please continue to bring your camp chair to the meeting.  This helps with setup and tear down!

Also most of us have den meetings later this week too. This is one of those odd months.

Thank you Kenny Hastings

Camping Recap and Upcoming Important Dates
October 9, 2019

First off, I hope everyone had as much fun camping as I did. We learned a lot and had a ton of fun. I want to extend a huge thank you to all of the volunteers we had including (but not limited to): Cooks, Servers, Cleanup, Leaders, and Activity Station leaders. Please see our facebook page for more pictures from the event. I really enjoyed the shelter building, first aid, and paracord bracelet events too! We will have upcoming info on our spring campout by year end.

Coming up we have several important dates.

  • Spookaree is coming up October 26-27 if you’d like to attend.
  • Trail to Bobcat is a free family event this weekend.  For FREE, youth will be able to participate in eight different stations that include BB-guns, archery / slingshot, a space derby, Scout Oath and Law, handshake and sign, an introduction to Scouting video, and an interactive walk-through of the EnergyExplorium and its exhibits! Also, every youth will receive a patch from Duke Energy! This event will be held at the McGuire EnergyExplorium from 9-11 A.M. on Saturday, October 12th, 2019.
  • POPCORN!  Please keep checking on the Trails End app and sign up for popcorn shifts.  We are halfway done!  Also see me if you want to check out more popcorn.

Den meetings are in full swing so I’m sure I will see you all soon.

Thanks.

New Year Pack Meeting
August 30, 2019

Next week we will have our 1st pack meeting of the new school year (September 3, 2019) at Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 6:30pm. This typically is a long meeting because of all the summer awards and bringing the new kids into the fold, so bear with us and realize that they’re not all this long. We are excited to see all the new faces and get to know everyone, as well as discuss our popcorn kickoff fundraiser which pays for the year scouting. We have a calendar page to help everyone see what’s coming as well.

See everyone there!

Space Derby
July 23, 2019

The Scouts kept sailing into summer with the Raingutter Regatta a few weeks ago! It’s always exciting seeing the creative boats and the younger Scouts learning how to get better at this fun event. Congrats to Colin Blinson, Noah Shipman, and Mason Pearce for their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes respectively, and to Brody Hastings for his Best in Show boat!

Our next Pack takes orbit with the Space Derby at Holy Spirit, Tuesday, August 6th starting at 7 PM. Please be there no later than 6:45 PM to check in your space craft. If your kid did not receive a kit at the last meet, please contact us so we can get one to them to build.

Webelos Woods Camp Recap
March 27, 2019

Good evening fellow Webelos Woods survivors,

I just wanted to recap the exciting trip we had this past weekend. This should give you some talking points about what your Scouts did if you were unable to attend. Also, many thanks to the parents that did attend and chipped in to make the weekend great.

This was some of the Scouts first taste of the next level of Scouting. While they may have not done all of the set up, cooking, planning etc. they did have a very important role in all of them. They were put in some situations of critical thinking outside of someone being there giving them the answer…how to stay warm at night, how to administer 1st aid with limited resources in the woods, team building and leadership, knife and axe safety, partner carries, fire building, and probably the parents/leaders favorite… nap, I mean map and compass.

A lot of this was even Scout led by older kids so it was interesting to watch how they interacted different with those a little closer to their age that may have been giving them similar instructions.

I have attached Saturday’s station layout, by Den, so you can see what each group did, in addition to hiking about 7 miles! 😐 We truly enjoyed the experience and hope your Scout did too. Please talk with them on what may have been their most and least favorite as I’d like to include their input on the Council’s review card.

I’d suggest keeping the Webelos Resident camp on your radar this summer (sometime around July) as it is similar but more geared towards a specific field (to be announced later). We’ll pass along more details as we have them, but it typically runs around $150 which is all inclusive (including meals) and is a Thurs-Sun event.

Thanks again for investing in your kid and giving them this Scouting experience.

Cubmaster Ryan
