Welcome to Cub Scout Pack 83, Denver NC
May 17, 2017

Welcome to Cub Scout Pack 83!  We think our pack is special, and it is!  We have the best pack in Denver, NC, and we invite you to join us to see first hand.  Pack 83 is a diverse group with one goal:

To teach our sons to have fun while learning something new.  A little healthy respect for God and country is thrown in for good measure. If you are a parent who has been involved in scouting in the past, then you know the drill. If you are new, then read on.

If you want your son to have some fun, excitement, outdoor opportunities, and a chance to participate in a program in which he does not always have to win–instead, he learns to “Do your best” and to help others–then we have just the program for you. Each Cub Scout learns to respect his family, home, country, and other people.

The program also helps the Cubs learn how to get along with others through group activities; develop new mental skills; develop personal independence; and learn to make values-based decisions that will assist them throughout their lives.

Cub Scouts is designed to support and encourage quality family involvement for boys in Kindergarten through Fifth Grades.

Postponing Back to Scouting
July 28, 2020

Hey Pack,

Unfortunately we are still in Phase 2 so we are not going to be able to have our Back to Scouting party on 8/1. We will reschedule this as we all are looking forward to the time where we can gather as a group again. We are going to host a Zoom call on 8/4 @ 7:00PM to go over some knots that all Cub Scouts need to learn. All you will need material wise is a piece of rope around 1 foot long. After we go over the knots we will open everything up for a little while to let the boys catch up. I look forward to seeing everyone on the Zoom call.

Pack Meeting updates
March 31, 2020

Pack,
I would like to say we as leaders miss our scouts, and I am sure they are missing their friends as well. I am going to ignore the elephant in the room(virus) with only one comment: I do hope all is well at your houses, if you need anything please let one of us know.

First the exciting news.
Tuesday, April 7th is our scheduled date for our April Pack meeting and it WILL happen.  We will post a signup in Slack for each Scouts too signup for each element along with the link to the meeting.
Den Meetings will continue to occur via Zoom.

Now for the bad news.
The spring campout at Fort Fisher is cancelled, after the Pack Meeting I will post a poll for an interest in a virtual campout.
The Crossing Over Ceremony is being pushed until later in the month of May to allow Scouts to complete any advancements they might need. Once completed, please send us an email so we can enter them into the computer.

Business items… Camp Cards are still on hold. I know everyone is excited about fundraising (sarcasm).

We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday April 7th for the Pack Meeting. Please submit your family skits on Facebook (just post it to the Pack Facebook Page). The winner will be announced at the Pack Meeting, and your trophy will be awarded.

Until then! Adventure is out there.

Pinewood Derby 2020
February 23, 2020

Good Afternoon Scouts and Scout Families! This weekend we wrapped up our Pinewood Derby event with our brand new track! This event was a huge success even though we had some learning curves to deal with. The scouts put in a lot of hard work to create such amazing detailed cars. We’d also like to thank all of the leaders, volunteers, families that helped pull this event together and make it such a success. We have a list of things to work on for next year, so start planning now for the 2121 season! Here are a few of pictures that were taken; however, check Facebook for a lot more.

In honor of that, we are going to have an original birthday song contest for the Pack meeting. Families, or if scouts want to team up, come up with an original birthday song to sing at the meeting. The winner of the competition will receive a $25 gift card to Cookies and Cream.
So let’s be creative and original and make up some awesome songs!

Giving and Serving Opportunity
January 30, 2020

Good morning!  I wanted to extend an invitation to all of the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and their families to our March Community Event.  This is a wonderful opportunity to serve those around us.  Last year Youth Ministry packed and shipped 60 boxes to our soldiers overseas, so we are opening up this event to the public.  I have attached a flyer which explains Any Soldier and lists volunteer opportunities available.  Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.  Have a blessed and beautiful day!

I want to extend a huge thank you to all of the volunteers we had including (but not limited to): Cooks, Servers, Cleanup, Leaders, and Activity Station leaders.
